Devin Vassell led five Seminoles in double figures with 17 points as Florida State rolled to an easy 89-53 win Wednesday night against Chattanooga in Tallahassee, Fla.
The Seminoles built a 41-29 halftime lead and never looked back, pushing the edge to as many as 39 points in the second half in a campus game as part of the Emerald Coast Classic.
Vassell added a game-high eight rebounds along with two blocked shots in the win for Florida State (3-1). Forward Patrick Williams added 16 points off the bench while Malik Osborne, Dominik Olejniczak and Balsa Koprivica contributed 10 points apiece.
Guard David Jean-Baptists led the Moccasins (3-2) with 15 points.
Florida State has now won three straight after its season-opening loss at Pittsburgh, including beating then-No. 6 Florida. The Seminoles have also won all three head-to-head meetings with Chattanooga.
The Seminoles' win was their 34th straight in nonconference action at home -- a streak that began on Dec. 6, 2014, with a 96-73 victory over Central Florida.
Florida State shot a robust 52.3 percent (34-for-65) from the field, while the Moccasins connected on just 39 percent (23-for-59) from the field. Chattanooga made just five 3-pointers in 24 attempts, and only two free throws for the entire game in just six tries.
Florida State's next game is Saturday when they host Saint Francis (Pa.).
Chattanooga will try to rebound from the loss in its next game Monday at No. 20 Tennessee.
The Emerald Coast Classic is an eight-team tournament broken into two brackets with the Seminoles next playing Chicago State on Monday in Tallahassee before traveling to Niceville, Fla., to play Tennessee on Nov. 29 and then either VCU or Purdue on Nov. 30 at The Arena at Northwest Florida State College.
