Yvan Ouedraogo scored six of his 11 points in overtime, and Jervay Green made two 3-pointers in the extra session to lead Nebraska to a 93-86 win over Southern on Friday night in a nonconference game at Lincoln, Neb.
After Ouedraogo and Southern's Damiree Burns traded baskets to start overtime, Ouedraogo put the Cornhuskers ahead for good on a dunk with 3:14 left to put Nebraska ahead 84-82.
That basket started a 10-0 run for Nebraska that culminated with a Green 3-pointer with 1:06 remaining.
Green led Nebraska (2-2) with 22 points, and he had six assists. Cam Mack finished with 16 points and eight assists.
Southern (2-3) got a game-high 31 points from Micah Bradford. Darius Williams finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Burns had 14 points and seven rebounds.
Williams made a layup with 34 seconds left in regulation that put Southern ahead 80-79, the 16th lead change of the game at that point.
Green was fouled with 15 seconds left and he made only the second of two free throw attempts to tie the game at 80. Nebraska went 19 of 37 from the free-throw line in the game.
Bradford missed a jump shot with 11 seconds left, and the loose ball went out off Nebraska. Given another chance with two seconds left, Southern's Montese Blake missed a 3-point attempt at the buzzer.
Nebraska appeared as if it would build a sizable lead after going up 33-20 with 5:07 left in the first half. Southern, however, went on an 18-2 run to take a 38-35 lead with 1:13 remaining until halftime.
Bradford had 10 points in that run, including two 3-pointers, and finished with 13 points before halftime.
A pull-up jumper by Bradford with 14:06 left gave Southern its biggest lead of the game, 56-48, with 14:06 remaining in regulation.
Nebraska stormed back behind two 3-pointers by Thoris Thorbjarnarson to cut the deficit to 59-58 with 12:06 left.
