Jimmy Whitt Jr. scored 17 points as Arkansas fended off visiting Austin Peay 69-61 in a defensive battle Tuesday night in Fayetteville, Ark.
Isaiah Joe and Mason Jones each added 16 points for the Razorbacks (8-0).
Terry Taylor scored a game-high 20 points for the Governors (3-4).
Ahead 49-45 with 10:50 left, the Razorbacks limited the Governors to just four points in the next 8:15.
Arkansas established a 62-49 lead with 2:35 remaining, and Austin Peay was unable to offer a sufficient response.
Arkansas led 34-30 after a first half in which neither team led by more than eight points. The Razorbacks were ahead 34-26 with one minute left but Austin Peay made two field goals to pull within four points at intermission.
Arkansas forced Austin Peay into committing 21 turnovers, 18 of which were committed by the Governors' five starters, with each accounting for at least three. The Governors managed just eight assists.
Arkansas committed 20 turnovers but had nine steals compared to just two for Austin Peay. Four different Razorbacks had two steals.
Austin Peay shot 22 of 53 overall, just 6 of 19 on 3-pointers.
