Miller Kopp and Boo Buie scored 20 points apiece, and Northwestern pulled away for an 82-64 win over host Boston College on Tuesday night in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Ryan Young added 12 points on 6-for-7 shooting for Northwestern (4-3), which won its first road game of the season. Anthony Gaines finished with nine points, and Pete Nance had eight.
Jairus Hamilton scored 12 points to lead Boston College (4-5). Derryck Thornton had 11 and Jay Heath tallied 10.
Northwestern improved to 10-11 all time in the annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Boston College dropped to 7-5 in the event.
The game marked a reunion for Wildcats forward A.J. Turner, who spent his first two years with Boston College before transferring in the summer of 2017. Turner finished with six points and two rebounds against his former school.
The Golden Eagles' 10-point halftime deficit increased to 15 points when Young made a layup with 14 minutes to play. Julian Rishwain hit a 3-pointer for Boston College coming out of a timeout to trim the gap to 12, but Northwestern quickly reasserted itself with five straight points on a 3-pointer by Gaines and a layup by Buie.
By the 10-minute mark, Northwestern's lead ballooned to 62-42 on a pair of free throws by Turner.
Boston College went on an 8-0 run to pull within 62-50 with 7:37 to play. Thornton capped the run with a layup.
Northwestern held firm to its double-digit lead and closed the second half on an 8-0 run over the final 2:02.
The Wildcats built a 37-27 advantage at the break.
Boston College led 20-19 after a layup by Nik Popovic with 9:01 remaining in the first half. That proved to be the final lead of the evening for the Golden Eagles.
Northwestern responded by going on a 16-0 run to grab a 35-20 lead with three minutes remaining in the first half. Nance drained two 3-pointers during the run, which included a 3-pointer by Kopp and layups by Buie and Gaines.
A jump shot by Hamilton with 2:35 left in the half finally ended Boston College's scoring drought, which lasted 6:26.
