Kamaka Hepa poured in career-high 15 points that included key 3-pointers that helped to seal the game as visiting Texas posted a 76-64 win over reeling Oklahoma State on Wednesday in Big 12 Conference action in Stillwater, Okla.
The Longhorns, who have won two straight, broke away from Oklahoma State early in the second half, leading by as many as 16 points after being up by just six at intermission. Texas made six of its seven shots over that pivotal stretch, and owned a 51-36 lead before the Cowboys went to work to cut into that advantage.
A 9-0 run by Oklahoma State over the middle of the second half allowed the Cowboys to claw back to within 51-45, but a 3-pointer by Hepa ended the rally. The Cowboys never got closer than six points the rest of way as Texas put the game away via 3-pointers by Hepa and Courtney Ramey.
Jase Febres added 15 points for Texas (12-4, 2-2) while Ramey hit for 14, Andrew Jones scored 12 points and Matt Coleman III added 10 for the Longhorns.
Kalib Boone led the Cowboys (9-7, 0-4) with 12 points. Isaac Likekele and Lindy Waters III added nine points apiece for Oklahoma State, which has dropped four straight games and five of its past six.
The Longhorns led throughout the first half and by as much as 29-17 after a 3-pointer by Kai Jones with 3:59 to play in the half.
Neither team shot well in the first 20 minutes, with Texas' 31-25 halftime lead built on the strength of seven 3-pointers. Coleman paced the Longhorns with eight points in the half and Andrew Jones added seven.
Thomas Dziagwa led the Cowboys with six points over the first 20 minutes as 17 of Oklahoma State's 25 points came from its reserves.
Oklahoma State cut the deficit to 33-29 on a dunk by Cameron McGriff at the 17:45 mark of the second half but the Longhorns responded with a 12-0 run that was capped by a 3-pointer and then a dunk by Hepa.
