Isaac Likekele scored 13 points and Thomas Dziagwa and Jonathan Laurent added 12 apiece to help Oklahoma State to a 73-62 win over Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon in a Big 12/SEC Challenge game in College Station, Texas.
The Cowboys enjoyed a sojourn from the rigors of Big 12 Conference play by walloping Texas A&M on the road to snap a six-game losing skid.
Oklahoma State assumed the lead on a Dziagwa 3-pointer with 10:23 to play in the first half and never trailed again. The Cowboys carried an eight-point lead at halftime before stretching the advantage to as many as 21 points by the seven-minute mark of the second half.
The Cowboys (10-9) had a 12-0 run during that decisive second-half stretch as Texas A&M went more than three minutes without scoring and almost four minutes without a field goal. Oklahoma State went 6 for 7 from the floor in that spurt, and the Aggies had no answer.
Oklahoma State outshot the Aggie 55.1 percent to 39.0 percent and enjoyed a 17-9 edge in points off turnovers. The Cowboys also received 39 points from their bench while Texas A&M garnered just 23.
Lindy Waters III and Yor Anei added 11 points apiece for the Cowboys, who are winless in Big 12 play.
Quenton Jackson, Josh Nebo and Emanuel Miller led Texas A&M (9-9) with 11 points apiece. The Aggies have lost three out of their past four games.
Waters led all scorers with eight points as the Cowboys outshot Texas A&M 48.0 percent to 36.0 percent in the first half and led 34-26 at halftime. Wendell Mitchell and Andre Gordon scored six points apiece to pace the Aggies over the first 20 minutes.
A three-point play by Laurent at the 10:53 mark of the second half pushed Oklahoma State's lead to 48-36.
Saturday's game marked the 50th meeting between the two schools, with the Aggies beating the Cowboys in five out of the last seven encounters.
