Mason Jones scored 30 points and Jimmy Whitt Jr. added 26 as Arkansas used a late rally to beat Alabama 82-78 on Saturday evening in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Jones shot 10 of 20 from the field, although he was only 6 of 13 from the free throw line. Whitt finished 11 of 19 from the field and 4 of 4 from the line.
Alabama (12-9, 4-4 SEC) led 69-66 with 4:11 left. Arkansas (16-5, 4-4) responded with an 11-1 run over the next three minutes to grab a 77-70 lead with 1:20 remaining. Alabama pulled within 78-75 but got no closer in the final 30 seconds.
In that 11-1 run for Arkansas, Whitt scored six points and Jalen Harris scored five to power the Hogs to victory.
Jaden Shackelford led Alabama with 28 points on 11-of-22 shooting. He also pulled down seven rebounds and handed out three assists. Three other Crimson Tide players scored in double figures, led by Alex Reese, who scored 14.
Arkansas trailed 55-49 with 14:14 remaining before producing a 15-2 run to create a seven-point lead at 64-57 before Alabama rallied. The Crimson Tide went on a 12-2 burst that enabled the home team to take a 69-66 lead.
Alabama finished 27 of 60 from the field (45 percent) but was just 8 of 31 on 3-pointers (25.8 percent).
Jones and Whitt combined to make 21 of Arkansas' 28 field goals. The Razorbacks ended the game 28 of 59 from the field (47.5 percent). Reggie Chaney grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for Arkansas.
The Crimson Tide committed 17 turnovers. Arkansas committed only 10.
The Razorbacks had lost three of four games before Saturday's victory. Alabama has lost two in a row after a four-game winning streak.
