Jahmi'us Ramsey scored 18 points to help rally visiting Texas Tech to a 62-57 win over Texas on Saturday in Big 12 Conference play in Austin, Texas.
The Red Raiders charged back from a ragged first half to take a 56-54 lead on a Terrence Shannon Jr. jumper with 2:26 remaining. Texas answered with a 3-pointer by Courtney Ramey to push the Longhorns back in front, but Kyler Edwards' jumper allowed Texas Tech to retake the lead at 58-57 at the 1:38 mark.
Both teams missed shots down the stretch before Davide Moretti canned a pair of free throws with 15.3 seconds left to push the Red Raiders' lead to 59-56. He added two more in the final seconds to ice the game.
Shannon added 13 points and Edwards scored 10 for the Red Raiders (15-8, 6-4 Big 12), who have won two straight overall and five consecutive games against Texas.
Andrew Jones scored 18 points to lead Texas (14-9, 4-6), with Matt Coleman III adding 17 points. Jericho Sims, Texas' force in the paint, fouled out with 3:17 to play with just two points and four rebounds.
The Longhorns used a 14-0 run over a nearly six-minute span of the first half to build a 22-8 lead. Texas Tech had six turnovers and missed all four of its shots during that swoon.
Jones had 11 points for the Longhorns in the game's first 11 minutes and ended up with 16 points in the half, outscoring the rest of his team by a point over the first 20 minutes. Texas led 31-19 at the break, thanks mostly to 11 Texas Tech turnovers that led to 12 points for the Longhorns and an 0-for-5 showing from beyond the arc in the half by the Red Raiders.
Shannon paced Texas Tech with nine points in the half.
The Longhorns lost two starters to injury in the first five minutes of the second half. Kai Jones was helped off with a rolled left ankle and Jase Febres went down with what looked to be a hyperextended left knee.
