MaCio Teague scored 11 points and Devonte Bandoo added 10 points off the bench as top-ranked Baylor overcame a ragged offensive performance and outlasted host Texas 52-45 on Monday in Big 12 Conference play in Austin, Texas.
The win was the program-record 21st straight for Baylor (22-1, 11-0 Big 12), with its only loss this season in the second game of the year against Washington in Anchorage, Alaska.
The Bears are just one win away from tying Kansas' 22-game win streak from 1996-97, a record in Big 12 play.
The Bears led 22-16 after a ragged first half by both teams, but Baylor used an 11-0 run over a four-minute span and eventually forged a 45-29 advantage. Texas clawed within seven points on a 9-0 run led by Andrew Jones' six straight points.
The Longhorns drew within 51-45 with 45 seconds to play as Baylor went the final 4:49 without a field goal. But Texas missed its final three shots en route to losing its third straight game.
Matt Coleman III scored 11 points to lead the Longhorns (14-10, 4-7), with Jones adding 10 points and Jericho Sims totaling nine points and 14 rebounds. Texas shot only 30.5 percent from the floor and was 3 of 17 from 3-point range.
Defense ruled the first half, with Baylor leading 22-16. The Bears shot just 33 percent while the Longhorns managed just a 7-for-29 showing (24.1 percent) from the floor, including 1-for-6 from beyond the arc.
Neither team scored over the final 3:19 of the half and missed their last 11 combined shots in the half.
Baylor's Mark Vital led all scorers with eight points and five rebounds in the half, while four Texas players -- Coleman, Courtney Ramey, Royce Hamm Jr. and Sims -- had four points apiece for the Longhorns' lethargic offense. Texas' output over the first 20 minutes was a season-low for a half.
Texas went more than five minutes without scoring in the middle of the second half as the Bears asserted themselves on both ends of the floor and built as much as 16-point lead with 7:48 to play.
