Malachi Flynn scored 17 points and Viont'e Daniels added 15 to help Washington State halt its three-game losing streak with a 72-59 win over IUPUI on Saturday afternoon at Friel Court in Pullman, Wash.
Ron Patterson scored 19 points to lead IUPUI (2-7).
After a 6-0 start to the season that included a win over then-No. 21 Saint Mary's, the Cougars (7-3) dropped three in a row, including a 14-point home loss to UC Davis and a 91-64 blowout at Idaho.
The Cougars broke open the game with a 17-3 run in the second half.
IUPUI missed 9 of 10 shots over a six-minute stretch, and Washington State led 56-38 with 12:07 remaining.
The Cougars led by 19 before an 8-0 IUPUI run made it 64-53 with 6:02 to go.
Flynn, Washington State's leading scorer, bounced back from two sub-par outings.
The sophomore, who was held to three and nine points in the Cougars' last two losses, had four assists and three steals.
Daniels was 3-for-4 from long range as Washington State shot 54.9 percent from the floor.
After Washington State took a 21-12 lead, the Jaguars went on an 11-2 run to tie it at 23 with just over five minutes to go in the half.
Patterson made three straight 3-pointers during the run. The Jaguars made just 1 of 10 field goals to start the game.
IUPUI will be staying in the Pacific Northwest a little longer. The Jaguars will head 75 miles up U.S. Highway 195 for a Monday meeting with No. 12 Gonzaga.
The Cougars host Kansas State on Wednesday.
