MaCio Teague scored 20 points to lead five players in double-figure scoring Tuesday as No. 2 Baylor rolled to an easy 93-56 victory over visiting Central Arkansas in Waco, Texas.
Jared Butler added 17 points, all in the first half for Baylor (7-0). Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua had 13 points (on 6 for 6 shooting) and 11 rebounds for the Bears, with Matthew Meyer scoring 13 and Adam Flager 10. Davion Mitchell distributed 12 assists in the victory.
DeAndre Jones paced Central Arkansas (1-7) with 19 points while Eddy Kayouloud added 14.
Baylor led by just five points nine minutes into the game, but the Bears ripped off a lightning-fast 10-0 run, consuming just 1:35 of the clock. Five different players scored on the streak that expanded Baylor's lead to 30-15, and Central Arkansas never got closer than double figures for the final 30 minutes of the game.
At halftime, it was 53-35 Baylor advantage.
Central Arkansas has, for the most part, has been fodder for high major programs, losing on the road to the likes of Memphis, Saint Louis, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and now Baylor.
Both teams did the majority of their damage from long distance in the first half, as both teams sank more than half of their 3-point attempts -- Baylor 10-for-19, and Central Arkansas 8-for-15.
Butler led all scorers with 17 points at the break, going 3 of 4 from long distance.
Central Arkansas got 15 points from Jones in the first half, with all his scoring coming on 3-pointers.
Baylor put to rest any notion of a Central Arkansas comeback with a 15-0 run to start the second half, sprinting to a 68-35 lead with 13:36 to play. Central Arkansas missed its first 10 shots of the half, going nearly seven minutes without a point, during that game-clinching stretch.
