Xavier Pinson scored 26 of his 36 points after halftime, helping No. 12 Missouri survive visiting TCU's upset bid with a 102-98 overtime win in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on Saturday in Columbia, Mo.
Pinson, who made eight 3-pointers, almost single-handedly brought the Tigers (11-3 overall, 4-3 SEC) back from a 12-point second-half deficit. Jeremiah Tilmon added 33 points on 13 of 16 shooting from the floor for Missouri.
Mike Miles had 28 points and Chuck O'Bannon Jr. added 17 for TCU (9-7, 2-5 Big 12), which has lost five in a row.
The Horned Frogs never trailed throughout the second half, but couldn't hold off the Tigers. Missouri took its first lead since the opening half on Tilmon's basket with 4:42 left in overtime.
Missouri scored the last five points of overtime after trailing 98-97, and shot 57.4 percent for the game. A pair of Pinson free throws and a steal by Kobe Brown sealed the victory for the Tigers.
R.J. Nembhard and Miles made layups with under five minutes to go, giving TCU an 82-70 lead. But Missouri fought back.
Pinson hit a 3-pointer and a free throw and Mark Smith hit a 3 to make it 84-81, but Miles answered with a 3-pointer of his own. Then Pinson hit another 3 with 24 seconds to go, cutting TCU's lead to 87-86.
Miles hit two free throws, but Pinson hit a tying 3 from well beyond the arc with 3.9 seconds left to force overtime.
Both teams shot well from the outset. Tilmon ripped a defensive rebound away from a TCU player and dropped in a layup with 11:26 to play in the first quarter, giving Missouri a 15-14 lead. Tilmon scored 17 first-half points and made eight of his nine shots.
The Tigers went ahead by as many as six points in the first half, taking a 22-16. But Miles scored six points in the final 5:50, and O'Bannon dropped in a layup just before the first half buzzer to give TCU a 43-38 lead.
