Andrew Jones scored 19 points and Matt Coleman III added 15 as No. 13 Texas defeated TCU 70-55 on Saturday afternoon in Big 12 Conference play in Austin, Texas.
The Longhorns (13-5, 7-4 Big 12) saw their eight-point halftime lead whittled to 43-41 early in the second half but turned it on over the final 10 minutes to win their second straight game.
Greg Brown scored 13, and Jericho Sims had 11 points and eight rebounds for the Longhorns, who shot 49.1 percent for the game.
RJ Nembhard tallied 15 points and Mike Miles scored 10 for the Horned Frogs (11-8, 4-6), who had a two-game win streak snapped.
The game was tied at 21 after a 3-pointer by TCU's Terren Frank at the 7:20 mark of the first half before the Longhorns reeled off the next nine points.
Andrew Jones had five of those points with Kai Jones adding a thunderous dunk and Brown adding a pair of free throws to lift Texas to a 30-21 lead. The Horned Frogs missed eight straight shots over that stretch and went scoreless for more than four minutes.
The Longhorns took a 37-29 lead to halftime behind Andrew Jones' 13 points. Texas outshot the Horned Frogs 52 percent to 32 percent in the first half, had 16 points in the paint and scored eight points off TCU turnovers.
The Frogs stayed close thanks to Nembhard's 10 early points and six offensive rebounds that led to five second-chance points.
TCU clawed back into the game five minutes into the second half by making five of its first six shots in the half while Texas endured a cold snap.
Back-to-back buckets by Andrew Jones allowed Texas to right the ship and go up 47-41 with 12:55 to play.
