Courtney Ramey scored 15 points, including the go-ahead free throws with a minute to play in overtime, and No. 14 Texas rallied for a 75-72 win against No. 17 Kansas on Tuesday in a key Big 12 Conference battle at Austin, Texas.
A bucket by David McCormack gave the Jayhawks a 72-70 lead with 1:40 left in the extra period. Texas' Matt Coleman III hit a free throw at the 1:27 mark before Ramey added two more free throws 27 seconds later to put the Longhorns up 73-72.
Another free throw by Coleman with 12.2 seconds remaining pushed the Texas lead to two points, and a free throw by Kai Jones with 5.6 seconds to play produced the final margin.
Greg Brown III and Andrew Jones added 13 points each for Texas (14-6, 8-5 Big 12), with Coleman scoring 11 and Kai Jones hitting for 10 points. Ramey was 8-for-8 from the foul line, and Andrew Jones grabbed 10 rebounds.
Ochai Agbaji led all scorers with 17 points for the Jayhawks (17-8, 11-6). Jalen Wilson added 16 points and 13 rebounds, McCormack had 12 points, Bryce Thompson scored 11 and Christian Braun tallied 10 for Kansas, which had a five-game winning streak snapped.
Texas won for the third time in four games.
The Jayhawks carried a 43-32 advantage into halftime, having outshot Texas 48.5 percent to 33.3 percent while forcing the Longhorns into nine turnovers in the first 20 minutes.
Agbaji led all scorers with 14 points in the half while Ramey topped Texas with six.
The Longhorns, who trailed by 14 in the first half, rallied to tie the game and then take a 66-62 lead on two free throws by Ramey with 3:27 left. A layup by McCormack with 3:10 to play brought the Jayhawks to within two points, and another McCormack layup with six seconds left sent the game into overtime.
