Chris Duarte scored 18 points and Oregon never trailed en route to a 75-64 victory over Arizona State Thursday night in Tempe, Ariz.
The Ducks (11-4, 6-3 Pac-12) won their second straight by getting a strong all-around game from Duarte, who missed Saturday's win over Washington with a right ankle injury. He scored all of his points in the first half, shot 7 of 12 from the field overall, contributed seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Eugene Omoruyi collected 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Ducks, who led by as many as 17. Will Richardson added 15 points as the Ducks shot 42.4 percent and tied a season high by hitting 12 3-pointers.
Arizona State's Remy Martin led all scorers with 30 points -- one off his season high. Martin shot 9 of 22 but also committed six of Arizona State's turnovers and was the only Sun Devil to reach double figures.
In their first game since Jan. 30 due to a second COVID-19 pause, the Sun Devils (6-9, 3-6) were unable to win a third straight game as they shot a season-worst 33.3 percent. Their depth was limited as Marcus Bagley and Chris Osten sat out with ankle injuries sustained in practice Wednesday and second-leading scorer Josh Christopher injured his back early on going for a rebound.
A 3-pointer by Alonzo Verge Jr. forged a 19-19 tie with 9:29 remaining but Duarte scored eight points in Oregon's 11-0 run and hit a 3-pointer that made it 30-19 with 4:32 left. Arizona State recovered from missing 12 straight shots in a span of 7:25 as Martin scored its final nine points to get the deficit to 35-28 by halftime.
Arizona State trailed 42-33 after a layup by Jalen Graham with 16:39 remaining but Oregon took a 49-33 lead on a basket by LJ Figueroa a little over a minute later. The Ducks took a 65-48 lead on a 3-pointer by Figueroa with 6:27 remaining but following an offensive foul by Richardson, the Sun Devils were within 65-58 on a 3-pointer by Jaelen House with 4:27 left.
Arizona State never cut the deficit below seven points and Oregon iced the win on a 3-pointer by Omoruyi that made it 70-58 with 2:25 to play.
