Maurice Calloo scored 15 points and Oregon State secured an NCAA Tournament berth by knocking off No. 23 Colorado 70-68 in the Pac-12 tournament title game on Saturday night in Las Vegas.
Jarod Lucas added 14 points for the fifth-seeded Beavers (17-12), who won the conference tournament title for the first time to secure the Pac-12's automatic bid.
Gianni Hunt added 10 points as Oregon State won for the sixth time in the past seven games.
McKinley Wright IV recorded 18 points, seven assists and six rebounds for third-seeded Colorado (22-8). Evan Battey added 16 points and eight rebounds and D'Shawn Schwartz scored 11 points for the Buffaloes, who had a six-game winning streak halted.
Oregon State was playing in the conference title game for just the second time. The other occasion was in 1988 when the league was known as the Pac-10, and the Gary Payton-led squad lost to Arizona.
The Beavers shot 48.1 percent from the field and were 9 of 22 from 3-point distance.
Colorado connected on 47.2 percent of its shots and hit 6 of 19 from behind the arc.
Schwartz connected on a 3-pointer as the Buffaloes pulled within 64-61 with 2:20 left. Warith Alatishe drove for a hoop to give Oregon State a five-point edge with 1:07 remaining.
The margin was three when Lucas went to the line with 16 seconds left and made two free throws to make it 68-63.
Wright made a 3-pointer with 5.8 seconds left to cut Colorado's deficit to two. Then Lucas was fouled before the ball was inbounded and split two free throws.
Hunt intentionally fouled Wright with 2.2 seconds left before Colorado could hoist a potential 3-point shot to tie the game.
Wright made both shots to pull Colorado within 69-68, and Oregon State's Roman Silva followed by splitting two free throws with 1.4 seconds left.
Wright's halfcourt shot as time expired was off the mark.
Earlier, Rodrigue Andela scored on a putback to give Oregon State a 49-41 advantage with 11:11 remaining.
The Buffaloes made a charge and pulled within 59-57 on a 3-pointer by Schwartz with 5:31 left. But Ethan Thompson hit a jumper and Lucas drained a 3-pointer to give the Beavers a 64-57 lead with 4:38 left, before Oregon State went scoreless for more than three minutes.
Calloo scored 10 points in the first half to help Oregon State hold a 33-28 lead at the break. The Beavers were 6 of 10 from 3-point range, while Colorado missed all four of its attempts.
