Paolo Banchero's 28 points and Wendell Moore Jr.'s 22 points propelled No. 5 Duke past The Citadel 107-81 Monday night in Durham, N.C.
The game was marred by a scary incident involving Citadel coach Duggar Baucom, who fell to the floor shortly after tip-off. Several people rushed to Baucom, who was later helped out of the gym by medical personnel and transported to Duke University Hospital. His condition had not been updated as of the end of the game.
Duke (6-0) has played five consecutive home games, though this marked the final tune-up before Friday night's game against No. 1 Gonzaga in Las Vegas.
Mark Williams had 14 points, Trevor Keels notched 11 points and Jeremy Roach had 10 points for the Blue Devils, which was charged with just three turnovers.
Hayden Brown and Brent Davis both poured in 19 points and Stephen Clark had 16 points for Citadel (3-2), which totaled 18 baskets from 3-point range.
Duke led 3-2 at the 18:57 mark when play was stopped as several people rushed to attend to the 61-year-old Baucom, who's in his seventh season with the Bulldogs. Associate head coach Jack Castleberry took over on Citadel's sideline.
Duke built a 52-42 halftime lead, with Banchero notching 13 points. The Blue Devils were 5-for-18 on 3s through the first half.
Citadel hit 10 of 20 shots form 3-point range. Brown and Rudy Fitzgibbons had three apiece.
The Blue Devils broke away early in the second half, going on a 15-6 burst and causing Citadel to use a timeout.
In Duke's five-game homestand, this was the first time an opponent reached the 60-point mark.
The Blue Devils largely controlled the lane with a 45-29 rebounding advantage.
Duke has won all 10 meetings in the series, though the most-recent matchup had come in 1993.
