PJ Hall scored 22 points to lead five Clemson players in double figures as the Tigers topped Drake 90-80 in overtime Saturday in a Holiday Hoopsgiving game at Atlanta.
Hall, who made all nine of his free throws, scored 22 points for the third time this season to match his career high and scored in double figures for a ninth consecutive game. He also had a career-high 13 rebounds.
Al-Amir Dawes added 19 points for the Tigers (6-4) while David Collins had 16 points and 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Nick Honor added 12 points for Clemson, as did Alex Hemenway, who was 4 of 5 from 3-point range.
Clemson snapped Drake's three-game winning streak as the Bulldogs (6-4) got 19 points from Tucker DeVries.
Drake forced overtime by getting a basket from Tremell Murphy to tie the game at 74-all with 13 seconds remaining. The Bulldogs closed the second half on a 14-4 run as Clemson went the final six-plus minutes of regulation without making a field goal.
But the Tigers got hot in the extra period and outscored Drake 16-6 in overtime. Dawes, who didn't score in the second half, scored six points in overtime as Clemson pulled away.
Drake had six players in double figures. ShanQuan Hemphill added 15 points, while D.J. Wilkins and Garrett Sturtz had 13 apiece. Murphy and Darnell Brodie each scored 10.
Drake used an 8-0 run late in the first half to pull even at 32-all, but Clemson closed the half on a 7-0 run of its own to lead 39-32 at the break.
Drake then opened the second half with a 5-0 run to cut Clemson's lead to 39-37, but the Tigers quickly responded to pull ahead by 57-48 with 10:44 remaining.
Clemson shot 11-of-26 (42.3 percent) from 3-point range while Drake was 11-of-31 (35.5 percent) from long range.
The game marked just the third time that a Brad Brownell-coached Clemson team had surrendered 80 or more points in a game and won.
