Anthony Polite scored 14 of his team-high 25 points in the first half as host Florida State cruised to a 97-60 victory over Lipscomb on Wednesday night in Tallahassee, Fla.
The Seminoles (6-4) snapped a three-game losing streak, which matched their longest skid in nearly three years. The Bisons (5-7) lost their fifth in a row and fell for the sixth time in their past seven games despite getting 20 points and nine rebounds from Jacob Ognacevic.
Florida State trailed 14-9 just over five minutes into the game but outscored Lipscomb 88-46 from that point on. Polite shot 10 of 14 from the field and also had five assists.
The Seminoles made a season-high 14 three-pointers, shot 53.8 percent from long distance (14 for 26), and had eight different players make a triple.
Florida State was efficient on the offensive end and implemented a pressure defense that contributed to 19 Lipscomb turnovers. The Seminoles scored 23 points off those turnovers while limiting their own mistakes with only 10 turnovers of their own.
Caleb Mills had eight points and six assists as Florida State finished with 22 assists overall. Florida State ran the floor well and picked up easy scores in transition as it totaled 15 fast break points while Lipscomb had none.
After making their first five shots from the field, the Bisons went 18 for 55 (32.7 percent) from the field the rest of the game and shot 11 for 32 (34.4 percent) from 3-point range.
The Seminoles led by as many as 44 in the second half as five players scored in double figures.
Malik Osborne set the tone early for Florida State and finished with 12 points and five rebounds. Cam'Ron Fletcher continued to play well in his first season with the Seminoles since transferring from Kentucky and also had 12 points.
Wyatt Wilkes had 13 points and four rebounds while John Butler had 11 points and seven rebounds.
Kaleb Coleman also had 10 points in only 13 minutes off Lipscomb's bench.
