Miami Hurricanes vs Duke Blue Devils Match Player Stats On Jan 08, 2022

Miami scored the last five points in the final 34 seconds to stun No. 2 Duke 76-74 on Saturday night in Durham, N.C.

Kameron McGusty's basket following teammate Jordan Miller's offensive rebound provided what became the winning points with 20 seconds left.

Duke launched two 3-point shots in the waning seconds, but both were off the mark. It was a matchup of unbeaten teams in ACC play.

Charlie Moore's 18 points, Miller's 17 points, Isaiah Wong's 15 and McGusty's 14 points were tops for Miami (13-3, 5-0 ACC), which was in its first conference road game.

Paolo Banchero led Duke (12-2, 2-1) with 20 points, while Wendell Moore Jr. and Mark Williams both had 12 points, and A.J. Griffin posted 10 points. The Blue Devils lost at home for the first time this season.

Miami held a one-possession margin for most of the final seven minutes. Williams dunked with 1:36 to play to close the gap to 71-70. Wong missed at the other end before Banchero scored twice in an 18-second span, the second of those baskets coming off a turnover.

That gave the Blue Devils six consecutive points and a 74-71 advantage. Miami's Moore responded with a basket but missed a free throw on what would have been a tying three-point play.

However, the Hurricanes secured the rebound that set up McGusty's basket. Trevor Keels missed for Duke and Wong made one of two free-throw attempts with 8 seconds left prior to the Blue Devils' final possession.

Miami was in position to grab control after Miller matched a Banchero 3-pointer to give the Hurricanes a 63-57 edge.

At one point in the second half, Duke had at least one point on 10 straight possessions. Miami was scoring at a good clip as well as it was boosted by 13-for-19 shooting to begin the half.

The score was tied at 32-32 at halftime.

Duke was bolstered by a 13-0 run to move to a 21-16 lead, an edge despite eight turnovers to that point.

Late in the half, it was Miami's turn for a 10-0 stretch.
