Texas Christian Horned Frogs vs Kansas State Wildcats Match Player Stats On Jan 12, 2022

Damion Baugh hit a 3-pointer with 11 seconds left as TCU defeated Kansas State 60-57 Wednesday night in Manhattan, Kan. TCU ended the game on an 8-0 run.

TCU (11-2, 1-1 Big 12) was led by Mike Miles with 19 points. Baugh added 12, 9 of them coming on 3-of-4 shooting from 3-point range. Emanuel Miller had eight points and 10 rebounds.

Kansas State (8-7, 0-4) was led by Markquis Nowell with 18 points. Mark Smith and Nijel Pack had 10 points apiece. Smith pulled down nine rebounds. Nowell also had a career-high seven steals.

An 8-0 run, capping a 14-5 start to the second half, gave the Horned Frogs the first double-digit lead of the game at 40-30. But back-to-back 3-pointers by Pack cut TCU's lead to 40-36. That started a 16-2 run that gave K-State the lead at 46-42 with 9:47 remaining.

Neither team led by more than five points the rest of the game.

The Wildcats were almost at full strength, after playing the last two games with barely more than half their scholarship players available because of COVID protocols. In their last two games -- at home against Texas and at West Virginia -- the Wildcats had seven and eight players available, respectively.

K-State also welcomed back head coach Bruce Weber and lead assistant Chris Lowery. Only assistant coach Shane Southwell, who coached the Wildcats against Texas, was away from the bench. Mike McGuirl was the only scholarship player not available Wednesday night.

TCU used a 9-0 run late in the first half to turn a four-point deficit into a five-point lead. Kansas State managed to get it close by the half.

Both teams struggled offensively in the first half. TCU took a 26-25 lead into intermission after both teams shot below 35 percent from the field. The Frogs were 9-of-28 (32.1 percent) and the Cats were 9-of-26 (34.6 percent). To make matters worse, both teams struggled from the line. K-State was 6-of-14 (42.9 percent) while TCU was 6-of-12 (50 percent).

Miles and Eddie Lampkin each tallied six points for TCU in the first half, which led all scorers. K-State had five players score four or five points.
