Myreon Jones and Tyree Appleby each had 12 points to lead host Florida to a comfortable 84-45 victory over Troy on Sunday afternoon in Gainesville, Fla.
The No. 23 Gators (6-0) jumped all over the Trojans in the first four minutes with their defensive pressure and scored the first 13 points of the game.
Jones kicked off the run, hitting his four triples within his first five attempts as Florida made 13 three-pointers overall. Jones scored all of his points in the first half and also had four assists in the game.
Six Gators scored in double figures as Anthony Duruji and Phlandrous Fleming Jr. each finished with 11 points. Fleming also had six rebounds.
Florida went nearly four minutes early in the second half without a field goal until Colin Castleton's drive to the basket gave it a 60-33 lead and ignited a 11-2 run.
Castleton totaled 10 points and eight rebounds, and Brandon McKissic also had 10 points.
Troy (4-3) had its short two-game winning streak snapped, and only Duke Deen scored in double figures with 10 points. The Trojans were held to only 2 of 16 shooting from 3-point range and shot 32.1 percent (18 for 56) overall.
Nate Tshimanga added seven points. Deen, Troy's top scorer entering the game, was limited to 2-for-8 shooting overall.
The Gators shot 44.3 percent from the field and went 17 of 19 from the free throw line.
After its hot start, Florida capped the first half with a turnaround jumper from just inside the three-point line by Kowacie Reeves to culminate another 13-0 run and put the Gators ahead 49-20 at the break. Reeves just missed hitting double digits and finished with eight points and two rebounds in 13 minutes.
Florida went 9-for-21 shooting from 3-point range in the first half and finished with 32 points off 21 Troy turnovers.
