Michael Flowers scored 16 points, Andrej Jakimovski had 14 points and 10 rebounds, and the Washington State Cougars beat the short-handed Colorado Buffaloes 70-43 in Pullman, Wash., on Sunday night.
Noah Williams and Tyrell Roberts scored 10 points each and Efe Abogidi had nine points and 11 rebounds for the Cougars (12-7, 5-3 Pac-12).
Jabari Walker scored 11 points for the short-handed Buffaloes (13-8, 5-6). Colorado had just eight players available.
The Buffaloes never led and the game was tied just once, 5-5, when Washington State took control.
Flowers put the Cougars up with a 3-pointer and Flowers hit a pull-up 3-pointer. After a media timeout, Walker split a pair of free throws to make it 11-6, and that was as close as Colorado got the rest of the way.
Williams made one of two free throws for Washington State, DJ Rodman had a putback layup and two turnovers led to a basket by Mouhamed Gueye and a 3-pointer by Flowers. The Buffaloes missed on the other end and turned it over on their next possession that led to another basket.
Williams again split a pair of free throws to cap 13 straight points by the Cougars. Walker's jumper in the paint ended the run but Washington State went on a 7-0 run to go ahead 32-13 with 7:37 left in the first half.
Julian Hammond hit a 3-pointer for Colorado but the Cougars ended the first two lead 39-18 at the half.
Flowers hit a 3-pointer to start off the second half, Walker and K.J. Simpson made baskets to get the Buffaloes back within 20 a minute into the second half. Washington State again responded, with Flowers hitting two jumpers in a 9-2 run that made it 54-26 with 12:43 remaining.
Colorado made a small run, scoring five points in a row to make it 54-31 but the Cougars used another run to put it away.
Williams hit a jumper and a layup, Jakimovski drained consecutive 3-pointers and Roberts had a driving layup in a 12-0 run that put Washington State ahead 66-31 with 7:07 left.
