Olivier-Maxence Prosper scored 25 of his game-high 29 points in the second half to lead four Marquette players in double figures as the Golden Eagles rallied for a 96-85 victory over St. John's in Big East play on Tuesday in Queens, N.Y.
Prosper shot 9 of 13 from the field, including 4 of 5 from 3-point range, and 7 of 8 from the free-throw line to go along with a team-high seven rebounds. Kam Jones added 16 points, hitting 6 of 10 shots from the field, including 4 of 8 from deep, with six rebounds and two assists for the Golden Eagles, who have won three straight.
Marquette's Tyler Kolek chipped 14 points and a game-high eight assists, with Stevie Mitchell finishing with 11 points and three rebounds.
The Golden Eagles (12-4, 4-1 Big East), who overcame a seven-point halftime deficit, shot 33 of 62 (53.2 percent) from the field, including 10 of 23 (43.5 percent) from 3-point range.
St. John's (11-5, 1-4), which dropped its fourth straight game, was led by Joel Soriano, who had a double-double with 22 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Dylan Addae-Wusu added 21 points, five assists and three rebounds, while David Jones chipped in 13 points. Posh Alexander came off the bench to contribute 11 points, five assists and four rebounds.
The Red Storm shot 34 of 66 (51.5 percent) from the field, including 8 of 17 (47.1 percent) from beyond the arc.
Marquette opened the second half on a 16-2 run to take a 57-50 lead it wouldn't relinquish following Kolek's free throw with 15:23 left.
St. John's cut the lead to 83-79 on Jones' dunk with 3:14 to go, but Prosper's three-point play pushed the advantage to 86-79 with 3:09 left.
After Oso Ighodaro's dunk pulled Marquette to within 36-35 with 4:56 remaining in the first half, the Red Storm closed on a 12-6 run to take a 48-41 lead at halftime.
