Hunter Dickinson had another double-double for No. 2 Kansas as the Jayhawks cruised past Wichita State 86-67 on Saturday afternoon at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo.
Dickinson finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds for his eighth double-double in 13 games this season.
Kansas is now 13-3 all-time vs. Wichita State.
Kansas (12-1) extended its winning streak to eight straight games. Kevin McCullar Jr. added 20 points and Elmarko Jackson chipped in with 12 points. KJ Adams Jr. had nine points and a career-high 11 rebounds.
Wichita State (8-5), which lost on this court to another in-state rival Kansas State 69-60 nine days ago, was led by Dalen Ridgnal with 13 points. Xavier Bell added 11 points and Quincy Ballard had 10 points.
After taking a 16-point halftime lead, Kansas scored the first eight points of the second half to eliminate any thought of a Wichita State comeback. The Shockers never got closer than 16 points the rest of the way.
The comfortable margin allowed Kansas coach Bill Self to give extensive minutes to his bench players. The Kansas reserves combined for 43 minutes and 17 points.
Kansas got 23 assists on 31 made field goals.
Kansas, which came into the game seventh in Division I in field-goal percentage (51.4 percent), struggled early in the first half, making just 4 of 16 shots at the midway point in the half. They ended up shooting 47.1 percent (16-of-34) in the first half.
After Wichita State tied the score at 14-all, Jackson had a personal 7-0 run to give Kansas its largest lead so far. The Jayhawks gradually pulled away from there, leading by as many as 16 and taking a 43-27 lead into the locker room.
