Seton Hall Pirates vs Marquette Golden Eagles Match Player Stats On Jan 27, 2024

Oso Ighodaro racked up 21 points and No. 14 Marquette used a strong second half to pick up a 75-57 victory over Seton Hall on Saturday afternoon in a Big East Conference matchup in Milwaukee.

Ighodaro and David Joplin combined for 30 points in the Golden Eagles' 45-point second half, where the hosts sank 19 of 31 field-goal attempts (61.3 percent).

Joplin finished with 20 points for the game as Marquette (15-5, 6-3 Big East) rolled to its fourth straight victory. Stevie Mitchell chipped in 13 points and Tyler Kolek made up for a four-point outing by dishing out a game-high 11 assists.

Playing without leading scorer Kadary Richmond (general soreness) for the second straight game, the Pirates (13-8, 6-4) got 18 points and eight rebounds from Jaden Bediako.

Dre Davis supplied 13 points and snatched nine boards for Seton Hall, which shot just 18.8 percent from beyond the arc (3 of 16) and committed 17 turnovers.

The Golden Eagles opened the second half on a 15-4 run, building a 45-33 cushion when Joplin connected from deep with 16:14 left in the game.

A Bediako layup allowed the Pirates to cut their deficit to 46-41 with 13:18 to go, but Marquette followed by scoring 17 of the next 23 points to open up a 16-point advantage and put the game away.

Joplin headlined the outburst with a three-point play that sent the home crowd into a frenzy.

Dylan Addae-Wusu canned a pair of 3-pointers in the first 2:46 of the game as Seton Hall jumped out to a 10-3 lead.

Defensively, the Golden Eagles proceeded to throw a handful of different looks at the Pirates, allowing Marquette to pull within 14-11 as Seton Hall endured a scoring drought of 4:41.

The Pirates managed to stay in front, though, and the Golden Eagles didn't lead until Ben Gold knocked down a 3-pointer with 1:12 remaining in the first half to make it 28-27.

Al-Amir Dawes later fouled Joplin on a 3-point attempt with two seconds to go in the period, and Joplin sank two of the three ensuing free throws to send Marquette into the break up 30-29.
