Deandre Burnett scored 13 points and doled out eight assists as Ole Miss cruised to an 85-63 win over Texas A&M Corpus-Christi on Tuesday night in Oxford's
Dominik Olejniczak added a career-best 15 points as the Rebels improved to 6-5. The Islanders dropped to 3-7 with the loss.
Ole Miss jumped on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi early, using a 13-0 run in the first half to take a 50-31 edge into the break. The Rebels kept up the momentum to start the second half, building a 28-point lead with 16:07 remaining.
All told, five Rebels scored in double figures. Breein Tyree and Terrence Davis each scored 11 points while Justas Furmanavicius tied Olejniczak for the team lead with 15 points of his own and led Ole Miss with six rebounds.
Andy Kennedy's squad shot 54 percent from the field, including 47 percent from three-point range. The Islanders closed out the night with 43 percent shooting, but were better from behind the arc at 50 percent (26-61).
Joseph Kilgore posted 17 points to pace Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Perry Francois added 12 points.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi outscored the Rebels 30-24 in the paint, but Ole Miss won the glass 34-28 and sped to a 9-2 margin in fast-break points.
Ole Miss returns to the hardwood on Dec. 22, for its final game before starting play in the SEC, playing host to Bradley. Texas A&M Corpus-Christi tips-off its Southland Conference slate on Dec. 28 when the Islanders travel to Conway to face Central Arkansas.
