Jerome Robinson and Ky Bowman scored 18 points apiece to help ease Boston College into the season with a 85-65 victory against Maine on Friday night at Conte Forum in Boston.
Graduate transfer Deontae Hawkins had 13 points and 15 rebounds in his Boston College debut. The former Illinois State player totaled more rebounds in a game than any Eagles player last season (Mo Jeffers, 12 on Nov. 15, 2016).
Ilija Stojiljkovic had 14 points and eight rebounds, Aaron Calixte scored 12 and Danny Evans contributed 11 to lead the Black Bears.
BC is 17-4 all-time and 12-1 at home against Maine. The Black Bears' last victory against the Eagles at Conte Forum came Jan. 2, 2010, a 52-51 decision.
The Eagles improved to 66-19 in season openers and 60-15 all-time against America East opponents.
Boston College led 35-28 at halftime after trailing by as many as six points early on.
Trae Bryant's 3-pointer with 15:41 to play in the first half put Maine up 12-6. Hawkins' layup at 14:18 capped a game-tying 6-0 run for BC. The Eagles took the lead for good on a Nik Popovic layup with 7:26 left in the period.
BC quickly built the lead up to double digits in the second, going up 42-30 on a transition Bowman 3 at the 18:13 mark.
The Eagles' largest lead in the second half was 22.
Friday's game was part of the 2017 Hall of Fame Tipoff Tournament, a multi-team event.
