It all comes down to this: The national title is on the line for the 2025 Women's NCAA Tournament.

The South Carolina Gamecocks are aiming to win back-to-back championships and earn their third title in four years, while the UConn Huskies are looking to end a title drought that dates back to 2016. Who will come out on top when these storied programs clash?

My UConn vs. South Carolina predictions and March Madness picks for Sunday, April 6 explain which one of these teams has the it factor.

Who will win UConn vs South Carolina?

Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks are a class act and have shown perseverance in their title run, but it's simply the Huskies' time. UConn has had so much to play for this year, not least of which is giving Paige Bueckers a dream ending to her remarkable college career.

In the end, UConn will cut down the nets and earn its 12th national title by defeating the Gamecocks.

UConn vs South Carolina prediction

My best bet: UConn -6 (-115 at bet365)

Back in February, one of the most notable headlines that shook up the world of women's college basketball was when the UConn Huskies handed the South Carolina Gamecocks a whopping 29-point loss. A loss so noteworthy that it left many stating: Not Dawn Staley's team?!

Well, yes, it did happen, and it's very relevant to the matchup we have on our hands now for obvious reasons. While SCAR has proven to be a much better team since then, unfortunately for them, so have the Huskies.

Against UCLA, Paige Bueckers shot 7-for-17 from the field, but it didn't matter since the Huskies had already settled into putting the hammer down on the Bruins.

A team like UConn is scary for that very reason. They don't have to rely on Bueckers to have an outstanding shooting night. She not only comes through in other ways by being an efficient facilitator, but the supporting cast comes through when she does, and that showed with Sarah Strong delivering 22 points and Azzi Fudd registering 19.

Although the Gamecocks handled their business in a 17-point victory over Texas, we can't ignore close calls against both Maryland and Duke. Meanwhile, UConn has won every tourney game by double digits.

Lay the points with the Huskies and count on Bueckers riding into the WNBA Draft as a national champion.

UConn vs South Carolina same-game parlay (SGP)

UConn first half -3.5

First half Over 62.5

As it did against UCLA, I anticipate UConn jumping out to an early lead by halftime. I'll also take the first-half Over as both teams have more than enough to make this a high-scoring game.

These defenses stand tough, but if South Carolina's bench can have the type of game that they had against Texas (35 points), then this should eclipse the O/U.
