Texas led by 13 points after its first possession of the second half, but Oklahoma State went on an 11-2 run to cut the Longhorns' lead to 42-38 and get back in the game.
Texas answered with a pair of baskets and a free throw by Courtney Ramey, and a bucket by Roach, to re-establish its 11-point advantage with 12:51 to play, which was enough to hold off the Cowboys.
The Longhorns (15-11, 7-6 Big 12) won for the third time in four games and earned a split of the season series with Oklahoma State. Matt Coleman added 10 points for Texas, which has won 13 of the last 15 meetings at home against the Cowboys.
Thomas Dziagwa led the Cowboys with a career-high 23 points that included making 7 of 11 3-point attempts. Isaac Likekele added 16 points for Oklahoma State (9-16, 2-10), which lost its fifth straight game and eighth consecutive league contest.
The Cowboys were up by as many as seven points in the early minutes and led 20-19 after a layup by Lindy Waters III with 8:50 to play in the half. Texas took charge with a 19-7 run to end the half.
Roach led all scorers with 11 points in the first half, and his 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer gave Texas a 38-27 lead at the break, the Longhorns' largest advantage of the half.
Texas dominated the action over the first 20 minutes, outshooting the Cowboys 50 percent to 36 percent, taking 19 rebounds to 15 for Oklahoma State, and holding a 10-0 edge in bench points and an 18-8 margin in points in the paint.
The Cowboys have a quick turnaround, heading home to host TCU on Monday night. Texas returns to the floor next Saturday when it travels to Oklahoma.
