Liking the Cavaliers to come out on top in this one. It feels only right to assume this will be a lower-scoring affair. If you like the Razorbacks, the over may be the play, but Odom runs a strict, defense-minded team. He wants his guys to strangle the opposition on the defensive end.
Virginia has become a much better scoring team since Odom came aboard, but getting Over 162.5 points feels like too much to ask. The more veteran group should be able to slow down the much faster, younger squad.

Virginia's experience gives the Cavaliers a major edge against an Arkansas roster featuring eight freshmen. With three returning starters familiar with Ryan Odom's system and Thijs De Ridder off to a hot start, Virginia has the leadership and continuity to take advantage early.

Both teams should play at a slower pace against significantly tougher competition, setting up a potential low-scoring affair. With freshmen leading both programs, this will be their first true test. Penn State's inability to consistently knock down 3-pointers could create additional problems if the Nittany Lions fall behind.

Penn State has my attention after Mike Rhoades finally prioritized veteran transfers while retaining some key pieces. Freshman Roko Prkacin has already made an impression, too. Play to 145.5. Houston’s offense should be efficient enough to score, but its shot profile is built around controlling possessions and forcing opponents to execute against a set defense. California’s projected three-point volume is high, but Houston’s pressure can make those attempts more difficult and create empty possessions before the Bears get into their preferred actions

I'm playing the California Bears +19.5 at 49% or less.
I'm fairly optimistic about this team coming into the 2026 and slightly less bullish on the Houston Cougars than market coming into the year. It's still Kelvin Sampson, hell-in-the-cell type defense and one of the best teams in the country but I'm curious on the overall talent level of this group relative to past seasons.

USC is the more complete, battle-tested team, and its exhibition schedule should have the Trojans prepared to exploit Wichita State's defensive concerns. With a loaded offense featuring Alijah Arenas, Rodney Rice and Adonis Ratliff, I like USC to pull away. Grab USC -6.5, and don't chase a worse number.

The pace should easily be there for this total to go Over.
The Trojans rank 39th in the country in pace, per Haslametrics. The Shockers prefer a more moderate tempo, but I find it hard to see them dictating the pace in this matchup when they're clearly the inferior team. If the Trojans can take advantage of Wichita State's defensive issues, they could make this a long evening for the Shockers.

Betting on the college basketball moneyline is simple. You're choosing which team you believe will win the contest. The NCAAB moneyline is a bet that includes the odds to win each contest. The favorite will be denoted by a (-), while the underdog will be labeled with a (+) symbol.

In this instance, you'd have to bet $110 on Duke to win $100, while a bet on North Carolina would pay out $120 plus your original $100 wager should the Tar Heels win the game.
A college basketball point spread is a wager on the margin of victory. A spread is the sportsbook's attempt to level the playing field of uneven matchups.
The favorite in every contest will be marked with a (-) along with the number of points they need to win by, in order to cash your bet. The underdog will be labeled with a (+) sign and the number of points they need to avoid losing by.

Here, the Duke Blue Devils would need to win by more than three points to cash your college basketball bet against the spread. While the North Carolina Tar Heels simply need to win, or lose by fewer than three points to cover the spread. The number in parentheses denotes the amount you have to wager to make $100.
A total bet, sometimes called the Over/Under, is the total amount of points sportsbooks believe both teams will combine for in the game. Since college basketball games are shorter, and teams don't employ players like Steph Curry, you'll notice college basketball totals are often far shorter than NBA odds.

In this rivalry game Duke and North Carolina would have to combine for more than 142 points for the Over to hit.
