Maryland-Eastern Shore @ Stanford preview
Maples Pavilion
Off to its first 4-0 start since 2016, Stanford looks to remain unbeaten Tuesday against Maryland Eastern Shore. Junior forward Oscar da Silva is averaging 16.3 points and six rebounds to lead the Cardinal, who are allowing 59.5 points per game.
The 6-foot-9, 225-pound da Silva battled inconsistency last season but continued his strong start with 18 points and 10 rebounds in Saturday’s 82-64 win over Santa Clara. “I feel a lot more comfortable out there,” da Silva told reporters. "When you’re put in position to score, you want to take advantage. Everybody can contribute in different ways. We have to stay hungry and keep working.” Coach Jerod Haase has also been encouraged by the play of freshman point guard Tyrell Terry, who averages 15 points and scored a career-high 21 points against Santa Clara while making all 11 attempts from the foul line. Stanford has outscored its first four opponents by an average of 18.3 points and concludes its six-game, season-opening homestand on Thursday against William & Mary.

ABOUT MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE (0-4): Picked to finish last in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll, the Hawks have lost to Penn State, Liberty, Longwood and Morehead State by an average of 25.5 points. Senior forward AJ Cheeseman recorded 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds in Saturday’s 76-53 loss to Morehead State while freshman wing Bruce Guy scored 10 points for the third straight game. Freshman guard Da'Shawn Phillip was held to two points in 26 minutes after entering the contest averaging a team-high 11 points.
ABOUT STANFORD (4-0): Terry’s emergence has reduced the pressure on junior guard Daejon Davis, who was expected to carry the scoring load for the Cardinal but currently ranks third on the team in scoring at 9.8 points per game. Haase began the season concerned about his team’s lack of depth but has been pleasantly surprised by the play of reserve forward Lucas Kisunas, who produced career highs in points (eight) and rebounds (10) against Santa Clara. The 6-10 sophomore could provide a welcome boost in the frontcourt during conference play.
