South Dakota @ Washington preview

Washington followed up its lone loss with three straight convincing victories and looks to make it four in a row when it hosts South Dakota on Monday. The 22nd-ranked Huskies knocked off Maine, Montana and San Diego by an average of 18.3 points behind the play of standout freshman Isaiah Stewart.

Stewart leads Washington in scoring at an average of 17.3 points and scored a season-high 25 in an 88-69 win over San Diego last time out on Nov. 24. "He does everything right. He's a dream to coach. From the locker room, to encouraging guys, to challenging guys, to competing, to work ethic, to going to class and to taking care of your body," Huskies coach Mike Hopkins told reporters of Stewart. "Check, check, check, check, check. He's just special. That's what makes him different. He's a different kid." The Coyotes are finishing up a stretch of four straight road games at Washington and fell to their lone high-major opponent in the opener of the trip with a 77-56 setback at Arkansas. South Dakota had a chance to clinch at least a split of the trip but was outscored 14-2 in the final four minutes to suffer a 76-72 loss at Northern Arizona on Saturday.

ABOUT SOUTH DAKOTA (6-2): The Coyotes are led by senior forward Tyler Hagedorn, who paces the team in scoring (18.9 points) and rebounding (6.9) while shooting 63.4 percent from the field. Hagedorn was held to 10 points on 2-of-3 shooting in Saturday's setback while guard Stanley Umude took charge with 18 points and 14 rebounds and Ty Chisom scored 17 off the bench to keep it close. South Dakota is shooting 50.1 percent from the floor on the season, including 47.4 percent from 3-point range.

ABOUT WASHINGTON (5-1): The 88-69 triumph over San Diego marked the highest-scoring game of the season for the Huskies and featured strong efforts from Stewart and fellow freshman Jaden McDaniels, who scored 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting. "We'll play better if we're both on the same page and doing well, but it's not just us," McDaniels told reporters of him and Stewart. "Everybody has to be on the same page. If everybody is clicking and everybody is being unselfish, then we can be hard to stop." The unselfishness starts with point guard Quade Green, who handed out 10 assists in 18 minutes against San Diego and averages five per game.

2. South Dakota G Triston Simpson sat out Saturday's game with an injury and is questionable for Monday.
