The magical season rolls on for DePaul, which looks to remain unbeaten when it hosts Buffalo on Sunday. Jalen Coleman-Lands hit the big bucket against Texas Tech to send it to overtime before taking over for the Blue Demons, who face a group in the Bulls that knows a bit about what they are feeling.

Coleman-Lands, who has mostly taken a back seat to stars Charlie Moore and Paul Reed, hit a 3-pointer with eight seconds left in regulation to tie it and then proceeded to score eight of his 18 points in overtime of a 65-60 victory. The 6-4 senior guard from Indianapolis, who because of injury mostly sat and watched as DePaul broke a string of 11 straight losing seasons by going 19-17 in 2018-19, has come through a couple times before this season, but this one was special against last season's national runner-up. "We're trying to exorcise the demons of the past," Blue Demons coach Dave Leitao told the media. "Each night we get an opportunity to erase those things that may have been part of our team, so we would like to think this is a brand new era." The Bulls, who last season got off to starts of 11-0 and 17-1, have struggled a bit more this season under new coach Jim Whitesell, and suffered a 90-76 setback at Vanderbilt on Tuesday that snapped a three-game winning streak.

ABOUT BUFFALO (5-3): The Bulls are shooting a respectable 34.2 percent on 3-point attempts this season, but on closer inspection, they have struggled against better competition. Against Nazareth, a Division III school, and William & Mary, Buffalo went 26-of-54 from deep but against the rest of their schedule, they have shot 29.8 percent. Davonta Jordan leads the team at 47.4 percent shooting from beyond the arc, but doesn't have enough attempts to qualify for NCAA rankings, while Jayvon Graves and Ronaldo Segu have also been solid for the Bulls of the Mid-American Conference.

ABOUT DEPAUL (9-0): Charlie Moore endured a woeful 2-of-15 shooting night against Texas Tech but it didn't keep the junior from doing other things, such as playing strong defense, dishing out 10 assists - his third straight game in double figures - and coming up with five steals for the second straight game. "He had to run around like nobody's business on defense," Leitao told the media of Moore, who was tied for ninth nationally with seven assists per game. "We rely on him, but we don't have to have him at this best every night." Jaylen Butz made up Moore's scoring deficit with a season-high 17 points to go along with seven rebounds.

TIP-INS

1. Buffalo, which is allowing opponents to shoot 50.8 percent on 2-pointers, is giving up 76.1 points per game - a figure that is near the bottom nationally.

2. Reed, who wa seventh in the nation entering Saturday with 3.44 blocks per game, has five straight contests with three or more blocked shots and needs one to become the 10th player in DePaul history with 100 in his career.

3. Coleman-Lands made four 3-pointers against Texas Tech, his 35th career game and fifth with DePaul with three or more 3-pointers.

PREDICTION: DePaul 86, Buffalo 75
