TCU and sophomore guard RJ Nembhard are flying high entering their first true road game of the season Tuesday against Kansas State in a Big 12 contest. The Horned Frogs won their conference opener 81-79 in overtime over Iowa State on Saturday as Nembhard posted career highs of 31 points and six 3-pointers, including a bank shot from well behind the arc that tied the game with 1.7 seconds left in regulation.
"It’s huge," senior guard Desmond Bane told reporters. "We just beat two good teams in a row (George Mason 87-53 on Dec. 30). Some momentum moving forward. It’s the first time for a lot of these guys playing in the Big 12, so to win our first game is huge." Kansas State dropped its conference opener 66-61 at Oklahoma on Saturday and is 3-6 since a 4-0 start. "It's a tough loss," Wildcats coach Bruce Weber told the media. "... We led a lot of the game and we did some good things and played a lot of young guys, but we didn't find a way to win the game." Kansas State has won four straight meetings and 13 of 17 encounters since TCU joined the Big 12 in 2012.
