LSU has enjoyed a thrilling start to its conference schedule and will try to stay perfect in SEC play when it visits Texas A&M on Tuesday. After opening league action with a comfortable win over Tennessee, the Tigers have posted back-to-back victories by a total of three points, with Skylar Mays' buzzer-beater lifting them to a 60-59 triumph over Mississippi State on Saturday.

"We were very fortunate at the end," LSU coach Will Wade told reporters after his team survived some poor shooting and a 49-31 disadvantage on the boards. "Skylar made a tremendous play. If we hadn't won, we'd be disappointed about our rebounding and our free throws. You can't accept in winning what you wouldn't accept in losing. We put ourselves in a position where we needed a miracle." The Aggies have won five of their last six, including consecutive victories over Ole Miss and Vanderbilt. Freshman guard Andre Gordon tied his season high with 15 points in the 69-50 defeat of the Commodores on Saturday. Texas A&M has held opponents to an average of 55 points during its 5-1 surge.

ABOUT LSU (11-4, 3-0 SEC): Mays leads five players averaging in double figures with 15.8 points per game, and he entered Monday tied for the SEC lead with 34 steals after recording four versus Mississippi State. Sophomore forward Emmitt Williams had a game-high 17 points to snap a string of four straight single-digit efforts and raised his overall average to 13.4. Freshman forward Trendon Watford chips in 12.7 points per game, but was 1-of-10 from the floor versus the Bulldogs.

ABOUT TEXAS A&M (8-6, 2-1): The Aggies are last in the SEC in shooting at 39.9 percent but hit on 52.6 percent of their attempts in Saturday's win, including a 4-of-4 effort from leading scorer Josh Nebo (11.5). "The statistics bear out that we can't shoot," coach Buzz Williams told reporters. "It changes our team when we're able to make some shots." Nebo also tops the squad on the boards with 7.8 per contest and hits 71.6 percent of his shots, best in the conference.
