Picked to finish near the bottom of the ACC, Virginia Tech is making a little noise early in conference play. The Hokies will attempt to push their winning streak to three in a row when they visit Wake Forest on Tuesday.

Virginia Tech picked up its second road win in ACC play with a four-point victory at Syracuse before returning home to handle North Carolina State 72-58 on Saturday. "I'm not shocked. Are you kidding me?" Hokies coach Mike Young told the media of his team's unexpected start. "Never underestimate young people. Don't. I'm not. Never have. There is a great deal of belief in that locker room." The Demon Deacons were picked to finish last in the league - one spot below the Hokies - and are settling near the bottom after back-to-back losses to Florida State and Duke. Wake Forest had a total of 15 assists against 34 turnovers in the two defeats.

ABOUT VIRGINIA TECH (12-4, 3-2 ACC): Guard Landers Nolley II remains the go-to guy for the Hokies and he recorded 29 points against the Wolfpack to raise his scoring average to 17.9. Fellow freshman Tyrece Radford chipped in a personal-best 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting versus NC State, and he's 12-of-15 from the floor over his last three games. Junior guard Wabissa Bede ranks third in the ACC with 6.3 assists per contest after notching 15 total in the back-to-back victories.

ABOUT WAKE FOREST (8-7, 1-4): Senior guard Brandon Childress leads the Demon Deacons in scoring (14.9), assists (4.6) and steals (1.3), but he's coming off a difficult performance in Saturday's 90-59 loss at Duke after missing all six of his shots in 27 scoreless minutes. The team missed junior guard Chaundee Brown, who is second to Childress in scoring (13.3) but sat out his second straight game with a leg injury and is uncertain for Tuesday's tilt. Junior center Olivier Sarr chips in 12.4 points and 9.1 rebounds - tied for second in the ACC - after recording 13 and nine, respectively, against the Blue Devils.
