No. 17 Maryland looks to pick up its first road win of the season when it faces Northwestern in Big Ten play on Tuesday. The Terrapins have lost four road games in the 2019-20 campaign, including a pair of defeats at 19th-ranked Iowa (67-49) and Wisconsin (56-54) in the month of January, and hope to build on a 57-50 victory over Purdue on Saturday by taking down the Wildcats for the fourth consecutive time.

“It’s a great win for us and we did a lot of things great,” Maryland coach Mark Turgeon told reporters. “Coming off a tough loss on the road that we probably could’ve won but we didn’t and our guys responded.” Northwestern remained in last place after dropping a 75-71 decision at No. 22 Illinois on Saturday. The Wildcats are off to their worst conference start since 2014-15 and have lost 22 of their last 27 Big Ten games, including two in a row, as they hope to turn their fortunes around by knocking off the Terrapins in the regular season for the first time in 62 years. “We knew we were going to throw lot of young kids into the fire and when you do that you go through some growing pains,” Northwestern coach Chris Collins told reporters. “I see a team that’s getting better every game they play and they can’t get discouraged.”
