Seton Hall @ Georgetown preview
Capital One Arena
Last Meeting ( Jan 3, 2020 ) Georgetown 62, Seton Hall 78
Georgetown is desperate to give its latest win some meaning, but to do so it will need to knock off No. 13 Seton Hall on Wednesday in a Big East game at home. The Hoyas used a furious rally to knock off St. John's on Sunday - one day after the Pirates saw their 10-game winning streak come to an end against Xavier - and will try to avenge a 78-62 loss at Seton Hall on Jan. 3.
Overcoming a 17-point deficit without the services of leading scorer Mac McClung to defeat St. John's is one thing, but beating Seton Hall would be another for the Hoyas, who have lost eight of the last 10 games in the series. "We can't take a step forward, getting a great win like this and go backwards," Georgetown coach Patrick Ewing told the media. "To me this is a season-defining win. We have to continue to build on this." With McClung sidelined by a foot injury, Jahvon Blair was inserted into the starting lineup and scored a career-high 23 points and combined with the rest of the starters for all but one point in Sunday's 73-72 victory. Myles Powell endured a rough shooting night and was held to single digits for the first time in Big East play and Quincy McKnight left with a knee injury, stunting the comeback for the Pirates.

ABOUT SETON HALL (16-5, 8-1 Big East): Sandro Mamukelashvili continues to work his way back from a fractured wrist, playing 16 minutes and scoring 10 points against Xavier in his second game since Dec. 8. The 6-11 junior forward was a solid scorer and rebounder early in the season, averaging 12.3 points and 5.3 rebounds in eight games, and the Pirates desperately need help on the boards after being outrebounded 51-22 by Xavier. "I feel I gotta get my strength back a little bit, my grip is not there yet," Mamukelashvili, who described himself as 85 to 90 percent healthy, told the media. "I feel like I am right around the corner."
ABOUT GEORGETOWN (13-9, 3-6): Jagan Mosely also stepped up with one of his more complete games of the season while never leaving the court against St. John's. Like Blair, the senior usually takes a back seat to McClung, but in this game matched a season high with 16 points while recording seven rebounds, five assists and three steals. There is no timetable for the return of McClung, who has averaged 18 points in seven Big East games, including 20 points in the first meeting with the Pirates before he and five other players - including McKnight - were ejected with three minutes remaining following a brief tussle.
BUZZER BEATERS

3. Powell has made 323 career 3-pointers, six shy of passing Jeremy Hazell (2007-11) for the most in school annals.
