There are plenty of hostile environments - some at altitude - in the Mountain West Conference, and undefeated San Diego State is heading for the ultimate one Wednesday when it visits Wyoming. The No. 7 Aztecs - one of two undefeated teams in Division I along with Auburn - remained No. 1 in the latest NET rankings as they prepare to play at Arena-Auditorium, which at 7,720 feet is the highest Division I venue in elevation.

"We came in here and we were strong," San Diego State junior forward Matt Mitchell told reporters after scoring a season-high 19 points in Saturday's 77-68 victory at Utah State. "Stronger together is what we preach. Five fingers on a hand. If you're missing a finger, you can't really make a fist. It's not effective." The Aztecs are dominating foes defensively en route to winning by an average of 18.9 points - fourth nationally entering Tuesday, allowing 56.8 points (fifth in the country). San Diego State also takes care of the ball with a plus-4.20 turnover margin that towers over next-best Boise State (plus-2.25) in the Mountain West.
