Last Meeting ( Nov 13, 2016 ) Bowling Green 72, South Dakota 78

If there were any questions about TCU's ability to shoot 3-pointers, those have been answered. Coming off a dazzling shooting display, the Horned Frogs on Wednesday host South Dakota, which is putting up plenty of points itself.

TCU returns 79 percent of its scoring and 79 percent of its rebounding from last season, when the team won the NIT, and the early results have been impressive. The Horned Frogs trounced Tennessee Tech, 100-63, on Monday as the team made 16-of-29 3-pointers led by Desmond Bane (6-of-10 from the arc en route to 24 points). Jaylen Fischer, who missed all of August, September and October with a torn meniscus, knocked down 3-of-3 3-pointers on Monday and finished with 11 points. Meanwhile, South Dakota is averaging 88 points through two victories with junior guard Matt Mooney playing particularly well early on.

ABOUT SOUTH DAKOTA (2-0): Mooney looks like he is picking up where he left of last season, when he averaged 18.6 points. The former Air Force transfer scored 26 points against Bowling Green on Monday and made four 3-pointers -- one shy of his career high. Carlton Hurst chipped in 14 points against Bowling Green and is averaging 11.5 points and 7.5 rebounds despite standing just 6-foot-3.

ABOUT TCU (2-0): The Horned Frogs' top three scorers are all shooting at least 71.4 percent from the floor on the season, but strangely the three -- Bane, JD Miller and Vladimir Brodziansky -- are a combined 8-of-17 from the foul line. Brodziansky averaged a team-high 14.1 points last season and was named second-team All-Big 12, while Fisher led the squad with 54 3-pointers at a 38 percent connection rate. Alex Robinson, who led the team in assists (5.8) last season, dished out nine assists to go with nine points versus Tennessee Tech.

TIP-INS

1. Miller and Brodziansky have combined to commit one turnover in 90 minutes.

2. Brodziansky, who shot 51.9 percent as a freshman and 56.4 percent as a sophomore, is currently shooting 76.5 percent (13-of-17) on the young season.

3. After posting 13 points and 14 rebounds in the season opener, TCU G Kenrich Williams was quiet with five points in 20 minutes versus Tennessee Tech.
