Tulane looks to continue its best start in four years when it hosts Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday. Off to a 4-0 start, the Green Wave already are within two wins of matching last season’s total.

The Green Wave are coming off an impressive performance at the Jamaica Classic, where they hammered Colorado State 80-53 and held off Fordham for a 63-55 win. Junior guard Melvin Frazier led Tulane in Jamaica to earn tournament MVP and American Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors. Miami won its first three games before dropping a 68-58 decision to Hartford on Sunday at the Jamaica Classic. The RedHawks have struggled at the offensive end but have played solid defense, especially on the perimeter.

ABOUT MIAMI (3-1): The RedHawks were picked to finish last in the MAC East Division despite returning four starters. A couple of those players have been pushed to reserve roles, as Miami starts three freshmen under first-year coach Jack Owens - including Jalen Adaway (11 points, 9.5 rebounds), who has posted double-doubles in back-to-back games and three of his first four collegiate contests. The RedHawks like to run the offense through senior forward Logan McLane (13.3 points, nine rebounds).

ABOUT TULANE (4-0): The Green Wave do not have much in the way of depth, but four starters and one reserve average double digits in points. Frazier (22.5 points, 8.3 rebounds) has recorded double-doubles in two of his last three games and topped 20 points in all three contests. Swingman Cameron Reynolds (17 points, 4.5 rebounds) is another big-time scoring threat, and Vanderbilt transfer Samir Sehic (12.5, eight) has been big off the bench.

TIP-INS

1. Reynolds (971) needs 29 points to become the 36th player in Tulane history to reach 1,000.

2. Miami G Darrian Ringo leads the MAC in assists (8.3) and steals (3.3) per game.

3. Tulane PG Jordan Cornish, a transfer from UNLV, is averaging 11.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists.

PREDICTION: Tulane 73, Miami 65
