North Carolina A&T @ Georgetown preview
Capital One Arena
Georgetown will play a team with a winning record for the first time this season when it does battle Saturday with visiting North Carolina A&T. The Hoyas and Jessie Govan have dominated lesser competition for most of the season and would like to continue the trend against the Aggies.
Govan recorded his second straight double-double with 24 points and 16 rebounds Thursday as the Hoyas continued their tour through the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference with an 81-67 win over Howard. A date with the Aggies will represent the fifth with a team from the MEAC for Georgetown, which has won the previous four games by an average of 19.3 points. The winning record for the Aggies has been mostly due to the work of Femi Olujobi, who has come out of nowhere to become the nation's fifth-leading scorer at 25.1 points per game while also averaging 9.4 rebounds. Olujobi, a 6-8 junior forward who scored a total of 76 points in two seasons at Oakland, produced six straight 20-point performances - including a pair of 30-point efforts - to help the Aggies open at 5-1 but since has been held under 20 in back-to-back losses.

ABOUT NORTH CAROLINA A&T (5-3): The Aggies and coach Jay Joyner start three other transfers, including a pair from Wagner in Aaren Edmead and Japhet Kadji. Edmead, a 5-10 senior guard who missed the first four games, shot onto the scene with 38 points and 10 assists in two contests before behind held to 12 and six in the last two, while Kadji, a 6-7 forward from Cameroon, ranks second on the club in rebounding and is the team's top 3-point shooter. Devonte Boykins, who came over from Georgia State after never averaging better than six points, is third in scoring and second in assists despite missing the last two games.
ABOUT GEORGETOWN (7-0): The Hoyas did some good things against Howard, including racking up 21 assists against just 12 turnovers, but they also allowed the Bison to cut an 18-point lead to seven in the closing minutes. "I think we started to lose focus. We thought the game was over," Govan, one of the nation's top rebounders, told reporters. "Coach (Patrick Ewing) really got into us and let us know the game was not over." Marcus Derrickson and Kaleb Johnson came within one and two rebounds, respectively, of notching a double-double for the Hoyas, who are one of eight unbeaten teams left in the country.
TIP-INS
1. Olujobi needs to average 20.4 points over the final 22 games to set the single-season scoring record for the Aggies, who met the Hoyas for the first time in Ewing's senior season with Georgetown in 1984-85.
2. The Aggies, who set a school record with five wins in November, are 2-3 in non-conference road games this season after losing 36 straight from 2013-17.
3. Georgetown, which will play former Big East rival Syracuse for the 92nd time next week, can improve to 60-0 against the MEAC with a win over the Aggies.
