Melvin Frazier is off to a sizzling start this season for Tulane, scoring 20 or more points four times in five games while leading the Green Wave to their first 5-0 start since 2011-12. Tulane travels to Georgia State on Sunday, and the junior enters the matchup averaging 22 points per game on 71.7 percent shooting from the field and 55.6 percent shooting from 3-point range.
“Coach (Mike Dunleavy Sr.) says when you get the ball inside out, you’ll get good things,” Frazier told the media after scoring 20 points with eight rebounds and a career-high five steals in Wednesday’s 80-59 victory over Miami (Ohio). It is a vastly different start this season for the Green Wave, who can match last season’s win total with a victory Sunday. Georgia State has dropped two of its past three games, losing at Ole Miss and to Prairie View A&M in the MGM Grand Event in Las Vegas. Sophomore D’Marcus Simonds leads the Panthers in scoring (19.6 points), including a career-high 29-point performance against Ole Miss.
