Creighton @ Georgetown preview
Capital One Arena
Last Meeting ( Feb 19, 2017 ) Georgetown 70, Creighton 87
It is not often that Marcus Foster is held in check for No. 24 Creighton, which will be seeking its first Big East road win of the season Saturday at Georgetown. The senior has gone 33 games since he was last held to fewer than 10 points for the Bluejays, who will need their star to shine to have a chance to earn their first win over the Hoyas in Washington, D.C.
Foster, whose streak of games in double figures is the eighth longest in the nation, scored a career-high 35 points the last time these teams met and comes into this game off his 31st game with 20 more points. The 6-3 guard from Texas made 10 or more field goals for the ninth time in his career Wednesday as the Bluejays rallied to defeat St. John's. "We got out there and got it done in the second half," Foster told reporters. "We are going to need this down the stretch. You go down the list and everybody is a good team, so we are going to have games like this again." The Hoyas picked up their first Big East win by defeating DePaul on the road behind the 10th double-double of the season from junior center Jessie Govan.

ABOUT CREIGHTON (12-3, 2-1 Big East): Martin Krampelj was too much for St. John's Bashir Ahmed when he recorded his fourth double-double of the season against the Red Storm, but matching up with Govan may prove much more difficult. The sophomore from Slovenia has recorded 11 games of 10 or more points after doing so just twice last season and boasts six contests with 10 more rebounds after producing none as a freshman. "He's really growing in front of our eyes," coach Greg McDermott told reporters. "He's matured as a player. Not only from last year to this year, but even from the start of the season until now."
ABOUT GEORGETOWN (11-3, 1-2): Marcus Derrickson provided his third straight 20-plus point game in the win over DePaul, but his shot selection drew the ire of coach Patrick Ewing. "Marcus has to be better. He can't force shots, when he's double or triple teamed, he has to find the open man," Ewing told the media after the junior went 6-of-15 from the floor Tuesday. "If we are going to be good both Marcus and Jessie have to be the ones that pull the cart." Derrickson was perfect from the foul line (10-of-10) for the ninth time this season for the Hoyas, who are second to Xavier in the Big East in free-throw percentage (78.2).
TIP-INS
1. By notching 25 points and 12 rebounds against DePaul, Govan recorded his seventh double-double with 20 or more points this season.
2. The victory over St. John's was the 17th for Creighton in the last eight years when trailing by 10 or more points.
3. Foster has scored 1,804 career points, which ranks fifth in the country among active players.
