Last Meeting ( Feb 13, 2019 ) Texas Tech 78, Oklahoma State 50

No. 11 Texas Tech demolished 16th-ranked Kansas on Saturday, perhaps putting an end to the Jayhawks' 14-year stranglehold on the Big 12 regular-season title. The Red Raiders, sitting all alone in second place and just one-half game behind conference leader Kansas State, hope to continue their surge to the top Wednesday when they host Oklahoma State.

Jarrett Culver scored 26 points, Norense Odiase had 13 rebounds and Texas Tech matched a program record by hitting 16 3-pointers in the 91-62 win over Kansas on Saturday - the Jayhawks' largest defeat in a Big 12 game since 2000 - to win their fifth straight by an average of 25 points and improve to 15-1 at home this season. The Red Raiders led by 25 at the half after knocking down nine 3-pointers and put the game away in the second half by shooting 68 percent from the field, including going 7-for-11 from beyond the arc. "If we shoot the ball like this, we could beat anybody in the country - but you can't always count on that," Texas Tech coach Chris Beard told reporters. "I think it's a combination of two things: Kansas didn't play one of their better games and we played maybe our best game. ... Every guy on our team tonight shot 50 percent or higher, we had a low turnover game, we outrebounded them, and tonight we played as well as we could." Oklahoma State is coming off an 85-46 loss to Kansas State on Saturday - its biggest loss in seven years - and is 1-6 in its last seven games, including a 78-50 loss to the Red Raiders on Feb. 13 at home.

ABOUT OKLAHOMA STATE (10-17, 3-11 Big 12): The Cowboys shot just 31.4 percent from the floor and connected on only 4-of-24 shots from behind the arc against the Wildcats, as Yor Anei scored 12 points and Isaac Likekele finished with 10. Junior Thomas Dziagwa (11.2 points, 87 3-pointers), who scored a combined 46 points on 13-of-22 shooting from behind the arc in his previous two games, was held to eight points and 2-of-9 from 3-point range Saturday. Anei (7.1 points, 4.4 rebounds) has 15 blocks in the last five games and needs six more to tie Byron Houston's freshman record of 65 blocks in 1988-89.

ABOUT TEXAS TECH (22-5, 10-4): Culver (18.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists) matched his career conference high in scoring after he made 10 field goals, including three 3-pointers, while Matt Mooney (13 points, six assists versus Kansas) and Davide Moretti (11 points, five assists) also had three 3-pointers. During the five-game streak of wins, Texas Tech has made 58 3-pointers at 46.8 percent, and the team is 40-for-80 in the past three games, including Moretti shooting 10-for-16 and Mooney 9-for-12. Senior Tariq Owens (8.5 points, 5.2 rebounds), a Naismith Defensive Player of the Year semifinalist, is tied for 16th nationally with 64 blocked shots, ranks second in the conference with 2.37 blocked shots per game, and is seven shy of the single-season school record held by Tony Battie in 1996-97.
