Louisville looks to play its way out of a late-season slump as it hosts lowly Notre Dame for senior day on Sunday afternoon. The 24th-ranked Cardinals have lost three straight and five of six, while the Fighting Irish have dropped four straight and five of six.

Louisville’s latest setback left coach Chris Mack visibly frustrated after the game as his Cardinals made a lot of mistakes in a 66-59 loss to Boston College on Wednesday. "Sickening to watch. I mean, we're just not making winning plays. Not making winning plays on either end the floor," Mack said. Notre Dame put up a fight in its last outing but fell short at No. 17 Florida State on Monday as the Seminoles prevailed 68-61. "We gave ourselves a chance. We just couldn't finish it. That's kind of been a little bit of the story of us. Just maybe not mature enough or mentally tough enough yet to finish against a really good team," Notre Dame coach Mike Brey told the media afterward.

ABOUT NOTRE DAME (13-15, 3-12 ACC): Brey was referring to the Irish's inability to score a point for nearly five minutes late in the game while also converting one of their final 10 field-goal attempts. Sophomore guard D.J. Harvey scored a team-high 18 on 6-of-14 shooting, while leading scorer John Mooney (14 points per game) chipped in with 14 points and eight rebounds. The Irish shot 39.3 percent from the floor and were outrebounded by the Seminoles 40-26.

ABOUT LOUISVILLE (18-11, 9-7): The Cardinals were tied with BC at 53 in the second half but got outplayed down the stretch as the Eagles went on an 8-0 run to put the game away. Louisville shot 32.8 percent from the field and 20.8 percent from long range in the loss to the Eagles, marking the fourth consecutive game they have scored fewer than 60 points. Center Steven Enoch had a career-high 22 points on 9-of-17 shooting off the bench to lead the Cardinals but also frustrated Mack when his dunk attempt midway through the second half bounced off the back of the rim and ended up back in Louisville’s half of the court.

TIP-INS

1. Louisville leads the all-time series 22-15, including last year’s double-overtime road win.

2. The Cardinals finish their regular season at No. 2 Virginia on March 9, while the Fighting Irish still have Clemson and Pittsburgh on their schedule.

3. Louisville matched its season high in rebounding margin (plus-15) against BC and is fifth in the conference with 37.5 rebounds per game.

PREDICTION: Louisville 69, Notre Dame 62
