Last Meeting ( Jan 5, 2019 ) Oklahoma State 64, Oklahoma 74

Oklahoma came away with a 74-64 home victory over Oklahoma State on Jan. 5 and will be looking for a Bedlam season sweep Wednesday when the Sooners go on the road to face the Cowboys. The Sooners have dropped three of four since the win over their intrastate rival and are tied with Oklahoma State for eighth (2-4) during Big 12 play since finishing their non-conference schedule tied for the league’s best record (11-1).

Oklahoma suffered a 75-72 setback to Texas on Saturday but freshman guard Jamal Bieniemy made his first career start for the Sooners and scored a career-best 11 points without committing a turnover in a career-high 36 minutes. “(Bienemy) plays like he’s experienced,” Sooners senior Rashard Odomes told the media regarding his first-year backcourt partner, “Doesn’t really rush anything. Doesn’t try to do too much. He’s playing like he’s been here for a couple years.” Oklahoma State junior Cameron McGriff scored a team-high 17 points and came one rebound shy of his seventh double-double of the season on Saturday as the Cowboys lost their second consecutive game in a 72-59 road defeat to No. 25 Iowa State. Freshman Yor Anei was one point away from the first double-double of his career in the loss as he finished with nine points, a career-high 12 rebounds and three blocks – the sixth time in his first 18 games that he’s swatted at least three shots.

The recipe for success for the Sooners this season has been on the boards as they’re 11-1 when outrebounding their opponents and their 41.3 rebounds per game leads the conference (11th nationally). Sophomore Brady Manek has averaged 15 points and is 12-for-26 (46.2 percent) from downtown in four career games against the Cowboys and Oklahoma is 12-1 in the last two seasons when the forward scores at least 15 points.
