Quarterback John Rhys Plumlee rushed for 177 yards as the Ole Miss Rebels defeated the New Mexico State Aggies 41-3 on Saturday in Oxford, Miss.
Plumlee collected 204 yards (119 rushing, 85 passing) in the first half, as the Rebels built a 24-3 halftime lead with three touchdown drives of 65 yards or more. Ole Miss (4-6) established complete control of the line of scrimmage against the Aggies (0-9), finishing with 447 rushing yards.
Plumlee completed 11 of 17 passes for 124 yards, and also rushed two touchdowns on 12 carries. Snoop Conner finished with 109 yards and two touchdowns on 13 rushes.
Conner made the first high-impact play of the afternoon for Ole Miss. His 30-yard touchdown run gave the Rebels a 10-0 lead with 5:39 left in the first quarter. The Rebels contained New Mexico State's offense and continued to build their lead.
Plumlee busted loose on a 75-yard run early in the second quarter to set up a 5-yard touchdown run by Jerrion Ealy for a 17-0 lead with 11:57 remaining in the first half.
After New Mexico State dented the scoreboard on a 34-yard field goal by Dylan Brown with 5:46 left in the half, the Rebels responded. Plumlee scored on a 2-yard touchdown run with 40 seconds in the half, finishing a drive that took just over five minutes. Ole Miss gained a 24-3 lead.
A 98-yard touchdown drive represented the exclamation point for the Rebels early in the fourth quarter. Conner's 1-yard scoring run finished the long march and gave Ole Miss a 38-3 lead.
New Mexico State quarterback Josh Adkins completed 25 of 35 passes for 127 yards. Receiver Tony Nicholson pulled down six catches for 37 yards for the Aggies.
