Michael Floyd caught three touchdown passes as Notre Dame rolled past Western Michigan, 44-20, on Saturday.

Floyd, a junior, had nine receptions for 157 yards. He caught an 80-yard touchdown pass from Dayne Crist on the first play from scrimmage, a 32-yard scoring pass on a reverse play from wide receiver John Goodman and a 2-yarder from Crist midway through the third quarter.

Crist completed 18-of-28 passes for 255 yards and three touchdowns with one interception.

The Irish defense forced four turnovers and held the Broncos to only a field goal in the second half. Western Michigan quarterback Alex Carder completed 28-of-43 for 277 yards with two interceptions.

With its third straight win, Notre Dame improved to 4-3. The Broncos dropped to 2-4.

On the first play of the game, Crist threw an 80 yard touchdown strike to Floyd to give the Irish a 7-0 lead. Carder then converted a 4th-and-goal on the Notre Dame 1-yard line by twisting in for the touchdown, knotting the game at 7-7. Carder scored his second touchdown, a 3-yard run, just before halftime to cut the Broncos' deficit to 27-17.

Cierre Wood broke the game open in the third quarter by running for a 39-yard touchdown that provided the Irish a 34-17 lead. It was the longest run from scrimmage for Notre Dame this year. Floyd caught his third touchdown of the game, a 2-yarder from Crist midway through the third quarter, extending the Irish lead to 41-17.
